Best ways to prepare for on-site blasting

Horton Industrial is well equipped to handle nearly any mobile blasting and painting project, no matter how large or how small. We have the best equipment available, along with the expertise to properly use it. Unfortunately, we do not have a yard or shop for you to bring us your project. We do all of our work on-site, at the customer’s location. This means that there will be prep work by the customer to prepare for us working at your site.

Tips for a successful experience with mobile sandblasting and painting

  1. Prior to having us come work at your job site, We recommend you move everything possible away from the work area! Sandblasting is a very messy and dusty process. When you receive a bid from us, it is only for the blasting and/ or painting of your project. It does not include any site prep unless specifically stated.
  2. If your project is going to require containment, we can recommend contractors that offer scaffold and shrink wrap services!
  3. If we are blasting a building or house, we recommend the owner should cover all furniture and sensitive items on the interior and exterior of the house with plastic. If there is even the smallest air gap in a building or house, blast media and paint can get inside and cause damage.
  4. If your item is portable, it is best to stage the item in a field, or yard that is away from other items. If you have access to land that is away from neighbors, that would be the best case scenario.
  5. Sandblasting is not only dusty and dirty, but it is LOUD!!! We do not like to disturb our customer’s neighbors. We recommend that you alert your neighbors that you will be having sandblasting and paint work done prior to having us on site. This gives your neighbors a chance to move their personal belongings away from our work area also.
  6. As our customer, you will be responsible for staging your item in an appropriate area for the blasting and painting work. The benefit of hiring us is that we are able to provide our services at your location, but the drawback is that you will be in charge of preparing your facility for the work.
